“Most illnesses and disorders (i.e. headaches, backaches, CFS, IBS, asthma PMS, coughs, ADHD) are caused by undiagnosed allergies. When left untreated, allergies can become serious, life-threatening illnesses. NAET is an innovative and completely natural way to regain our health with often permanent freedom from allergies, and the diseases arising from those allergies.”
—Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad (naet.com)
Most people associate allergies with itchy, runny, and sneezy noses, but allergies or sensitivities can manifest in more ways than the commonly recognized symptoms associated with hay fever or skin rashes. Allergic reactions can occur in any and all parts of the body, and some of them can even life-threatening.
Allergic reactions can manifest themselves in many different ways. For instance, a person may have difficulty breathing, have coughing or sneezing fits, get stomach upsets, their skin may break out in rashes or hives, they may have unexplainable pain in any organ, muscle or area of the body, or a chronic illness for which no medical diagnosis can be found. I usually trace the cause of these symptoms to an energetic imbalance with a substance, which the body resolves once the imbalance is corrected.
Hay Fever
Allergic rhinitis, also known as hay fever, is the term used for allergic reactions in the nose and sinuses, and is most familiarly recognized as an allergy. Allergic rhinitis is commonly caused by exposure to airborne allergens and may involve pollens, dust mites, molds, pet dander, smoke or perfumes or other chemicals. But did you know that allergic rhinitis or sneezing can be caused by foods as well?
Food Allergies
Allergic reactions to certain foods may manifest as an upset stomach, loose stools, vomiting, skin rashes, or brain fog. The reaction can appear as soon as a few minutes after eating or may take as long as a day or two before manifesting. It’s quite common, obviously, for an allergen that creates an immediate reaction to be identified; however, when the reaction occurs several hours to days after exposure, tracking down the offending substance requires specialized testing.
Dr. Devi Nambudripad, the developer of NAET, says you can have a reaction to anything under the sun, including the sun itself. For more information about NAET, please click here. The most common food allergens are milk, eggs, wheat, peanuts, shellfish, soy, tree nuts and fish. I have helped patients with bed-wetting due to fruits; insomnia due to meat; high blood pressure due to foods high in vitamin C. I often tell my patients that “anything can cause anything”. Just because you have diarrhea, it doesn’t mean you’re reacting to a food. In the Spring, many patients present with diarrhea as a reaction to pollens.
What’s Different About Our Approach to Allergies?
—N.A.E.T. (Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique)
N.A.E.T. stands for Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique, and is named after the founder/developer on NAET, Dr. Devi Nambudripad. NAET is a revolutionary treatment that combines the protocols of chiropractic, acupuncture and kinesiology to desensitize people of all ages to all kinds of allergens.
According to Dr. Nambudripad, there is hardly any human disease or condition in which allergic factors are not involved. Millions of people have allergies that cause such health conditions as:
- ADD and ADHD
- Anxiety
- Asthma
- Autism
- Candida
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
- Depression
- Eczema
- Fibromyalgia
- High Blood Pressure
- Insomnia
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- Joint Pains
- Psoriasis…and many more.
From the conventional medical perspective, an allergy is a hyper-responsive immune reaction. In NAET, allergies are viewed holistically, based on Oriental medicine principles. In other words, NAET defines allergy in terms of what a substance does to the energy flow in the body. Allergies, then, are the result of energy imbalances in the body, leading to a diminished state of health in one or more organ systems.
Contact with an allergen creates a blockage in the body’s energetic pathways, which are called meridians. This energetic blockage creates interference in nervous system communication between the brain and body. This blocked energy flow is the first step in a chain of events which can develop into an allergic response.
